The Supreme Court order says that it is not mandatory to link Aadhaar card to a bank account.

Going to bank branch

Aadhaar card can be linked with the bank account by visiting the bank branch. There you will have to fill an application form, in which you will have to give your name, age, date of birth, registered mobile number, bank account number and Aadhaar number etc. The bank will verify your information and after that your Aadhaar card will be linked with the bank account.

Via mobile app

At present, almost every bank has a mobile app. You can download your bank’s app from Google Play Store or Apple Store in your mobile and link your bank account to Aadhaar through it.

By net banking

If you are registered for the net banking facility offered by your bank, then you can link the Aadhaar card with the bank account in a few easy steps. First of all, you have to go to your net banking account, log in and follow the instructions. Once successfully verified, the linking process will be completed.

Through bank atm

Customers can also link bank account to Aadhaar card by visiting their bank ATM. But keep in mind that the facility to link your Aadhaar card to a bank account is available only on debit cards, which are issued for your bank account.



Check linking status like this

Step 1. First of all visit UIDAI website www.uidai.gov.in.

Step 2. Now select My Aadhaar from the Aadhaar Services tab and then click on ‘Check Aadhaar / Bank Linking Status’.

Step 3. Now a page will open on the screen, where you will have to enter a 12 digit Aadhaar card number and and captcha code.

Step 4. Now you have to click on Send OTP. This OTP will be valid for 10 minutes.

Step 5. Now you have to enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number and click on submit. Now you will see the linking status on the screen.
