What does the rule say
Under Rule 56A of the Employees’ State Insurance Rules 1950, the government has proposed to increase maternity assistance of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500. This maternity expenditure is paid to women in areas where compulsory health facilities are not available under ESIC. This maternity support is provided for only two children.

Explain that to provide relief in the difficult times of Kovid-19, some important steps of ESIC have been taken in the interest of ESI beneficiaries. ESIC beneficiaries have been allowed to conduct a test of Kovid-19 in a private lab, a tie-up skimmed by ICMR, if required. At the same time, in the event of ESIC hospital being dedicated for treatment related to Kovid-19, the tie-up has made an alternative provision to get medical services by private hospital.

Apart from this, ESI beneficiaries can also get medical services like prescribed secondary / SST consultation / recruitment / emergency / non-emergency medical treatment in these hospitals without any referral letter as per their status.
