EPFO extended the period of submission of life certificate till 28 February next year, pension holders will not stop
New Delhi: The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the period for submission of life certificates for pensioners till 28 February next year. This will benefit about 35 lakh pensioners associated with EPFO. Pension of pensioners will continue during this period.
According to the Labor Ministry, pensioners have not been able to submit life certificates till November 30, 2020, they will continue to receive pension every month till the month of February next year. They have got a deadline till 28 February 2021 to submit a life certificate.
It has also been said that the elders who have submitted life certificates have been extended in view of the possibility of being affected by the Kovid-19 infection. With this, about 35 lakh pension holders associated with EPFO are likely to get benefits.
Currently pensioners attached to EPFO can submit life certificate till 30 November. It will be valid for one year from the date of issue. For this, the elderly have been given the facility to submit a life certificate from home.
For this, elderly people can submit their life certificates through three lakh 65 thousand general service centers, one lakh 36 thousand bank branches, post offices and one lakh 90 thousand postmen and rural post servants.
It is to be known that earlier, the Central Government had extended the last date of submission of life certificates to millions of pensioners of the Government of India for two months due to the Corona crisis. Now instead of December 31, 2020, they can submit their life certificate by February 28, 2021.
