New rules are going to come into effect from 1 May. There will be a change in the rules of such services including ATM, Banking, SBI, PNB, Income Tax which are directly related to the common man. Though train and air services are disrupted due to the lockdown, the rules related to these are also changing. Apart from this, banking facilities are operational and customers will be affected after the changes from May 1. Know what will affect them.



1. SBI interest rate will come down, loan will be cheaper

SBI i.e. State Bank of India is going to reduce the interest rate on more than one lakh savings deposit accounts from May 1. This will benefit new borrowers and they will now get cheaper loans than ever before. The Reserve Bank of India had reduced the repo rate in the month of April, due to which the interest rates on savings deposits will now be reduced. SBI has linked savings repo and short-term loan rates to repo rates by implementing external benchmark rules.



2. Pensioners will get full pension

This is good news for EPS pensioners. Recently, the government resumed the provision of payment of full pension amount after 15 years of retirement. Under this rule, pension will be started from May. In 2009, this rule was withdrawn. This is called pension commutation pension commutation system. Those who opt for this option get full pension in the form of reinstatement after some time. Its duration is 15 years. In February 2020, the central government had issued a notification announcing the revival of the entire pension. This will benefit more than 6.5 lakh pensioners of the country.

3. PNB’s Digital Wallet Kitty Wallet to be discontinued

PNB Punjab National Bank is going to close its digital wallet from May 1. PNB Kitty wallet, the payment wallet service of PNB, will be closed from April 30. The bank has informed its customers. There was an option to pay with PNB Kitty wallet in place of Credit Card, Debit Card and Net Banking. Its specialty is that there was no compulsion to share NetBanking password or card details. The service started in December 2016 which will now end.



4. ATM will be kept clean, chamber will be sealed if rules are broken

A new system for ATMs is now being set up to prevent corona virus infection. Any ATM will be cleaned to prevent infection after it is used by the customer. It starts today in Ghaziabad and Chennai. There, it has been asked to strictly follow this rule. The ATM Chamber will be sealed if there is a violation. Due to the instruction of Sudhir Garg, the nodal officer of Ghaziabad, ATM booths of all banks will be sanitized here. Team preparation will be done for this. The municipal administration has obtained ATM location from banks. Chemical bottles have also been given to the team for sanitization. Now all ATMs will be sanitized to banks. These will be cleaned with a special chemical. In the hot spot, now the Municipal Corporation will do sanitation twice a day.



5. Change boarding station

Railway services are closed due to lockdown, but this rule will be applicable whenever railway services are restored in future. According to this new rule of railways, which will be effective from May 1, passengers will now be able to change the boarding station up to 4 hours before the chart goes out. Till now it was provided that passengers could change their boarding station 24 hours before the date of travel. If passengers are not traveling and cancellation of ticket despite change in boarding station, then no refund will be given to them.

6. Aircelia will not charge cancellation charge

From May 1, Air India Airindia is going to provide a big facility to passengers. Now passengers will not have to pay any extra charge on cancellation of tickets. The company has canceled the cancellation charge from May 1 if it is canceled or changed within 24 hours of booking the ticket. Air India’s CMD has given this information in a circular released on April 24.



7. Mobile ATM facility is available in lockdown

During the lockdown, the Indian Postal Department has provided mobile ATM facility to the people. Due to this, you do not have to go to the bank or ATM booth to withdraw money. The postal department has introduced digital payment AEPS i.e. Aadhaar inbuilt payment system. Under this facility, you can call up to 10 thousand rupees sitting at home in lockdown. The special thing is that your account is in any bank, it does not matter. You will get money when needed.
