Take care if you have an account in SBI, you will not be able to avail this facility without having a mobile registered

State Bank of India (SBI) has now made OTP mandatory for all merchant transactions. OTP has been temporarily disabled on e-mail. In such a situation, the bank’s advice is that users should register their mobile number to get OTP and SMS alerts.

Although the RTGS service is available 24 hours keeping in mind the convenience of the customers, but today (26 December 2020) the bank’s internet banking service will not be active for some time. This is because SBI will upgrade its CBS application to provide more better facilities to the customers.

Registering a mobile number with an SBI account is very easy. This work can be done in two ways. The first – visiting the bank branch, while the second – at the bank’s official ATM. The procedure to register mobile number through SBI ATM is :

1- Swipe the card. Select ‘Registration’ option in the menu.

2- Insert the pin.

Go to the option of mobile number registration.

4- Now fill the mobile number you want to register. If you have entered the correct number, select Correct.

5- You will be asked for mobile number once again. Fill it again and click on Correct.

6- After doing this, you will write on the ATM screen- “Thank you for registering your mobile number with us.”

7- Within three days the user gets a call from the contact center.

8- After this, a reference number is sent via SMS to the person’s mobile number.

According to the SBI Call Center, the customer gets a call from the contact center within three days. However, it is also advisable to ask the person in the call center to refer the reference number for security.

Continue the call only if the reference number matches. Once this work is done, you will have to verify your personal details and then the mobile number will be registered with your account. In this context, a confirmation message is also sent from the bank.
