India started playing ahead by 277 runs for five wickets in the morning and in this way, on the third day in the first session, they only added 49 runs and lost the remaining five wickets in the meantime. Ajinkya Rahane’s brilliant innings ended with a run out. He was run out for the first time in Test matches. He played 223 balls and hit 12 fours. Jadeja had given him a voice to take runs, while taking runs was not empty of danger and the Indian captain finally had to return to the pavilion. Jadeja was then one run away from half-century. He played a shot on short cover and ran for a run. Rahane did not send him back and ran for runs but could not reach the crease on time.
