Big news for drivers, validity of these documents increased for 3 months

The government has once again announced to increase the validity of driving documents, registration certificates and other documents, while giving relief to the drivers.

In the wake of the corona virus epidemic, the government on Friday extended the validity of motor vehicle documents such as driving license (DL), registration certificate and permit till 30 June 2021. Earlier, the validity of these documents was till 31 March.

In an advisory sent to the states, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has said that it is increasing the validity of fitness, permits, driving licenses, registrations and other documents, which cannot be extended due to the lockdown and whose validity is due on February 1, 2020. Is over or will end on 31 March 2020.




Earlier, the validity of documents related to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules have been extended many times. The Ministry told the states that it is advised that the validity of the expired documents from February 1 can be considered valid till June 30, 2021.

It was said in the consultation that the concerned authorities are advised to consider such documents valid till 30 June 2021. This will help people availing transport related services. Ministry of Transport and Highways (MoRTH) said, this is the last advisory related to it and the state governments should implement this advisory so that the public does not face any kind of trouble.

Apart from this, those who want a driving license will now need to pass a set of stringent skill tests. To qualify the test involves reversing a vehicle with perfection. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the passing percentage for getting driving license in all the regional transport offices has been fixed at 69 percent. According to the information revealed, these skill tests are going to be very difficult.
