Windows 11 Officially Won’t Support Intel 7th-gen & AMD Zen CPU’s, But Can Be Installed With An ISO
Ever since Microsoft announced the arrival of Windows 11, it has been a talk of the town. Just after a week of this announcement, the Redmond-based tech giant hosted the Inside Preview. It was in this event, when Microsoft announced that the Windows 11 OS would run on Intel 8th-generation, and AMD Zen 2 processors and above. Today, Microsoft announced that Windows 11 would maintain the same requirements after testing the OS for a few months.
Microsoft has already released the list of minimum requirements for Windows 11: selected 64-bit processors, 4GB or more of RAM, 64GB or more internal storage, graphics requirements, UEFI secure boot, and a few more. Microsoft stated that these requirements are still continued in order to provide the best experience to their users.
Microsoft also added a few more additions to the list of 64-bit processors compatible with Windows 11 including: Intel Core X-Series, Xeon W-Series, and select Intel Core 7820HQ processors. However, Microsoft did not add any AMD processors to the list. Additionally, Microsoft is also planning to upgrade their PC Health Check application that identifies the systems for compatibility.
Microsoft also confirmed that those who are unable to use the new Windows 11 can continue using the Windows 11 that would receive Microsoft support until 14th October, 2025. But what if you really want to use Windows 11 even though you do not have a compatible system? It is still possible with the help of Windows 11 .iso file.
According to several reports, Microsoft would not prevent people from installing Windows 11 on PCs that do not meet the minimum requirements set by the company. Although, you will not be able to upgrade to the Windows 11 using an official update, you will be able to download the Windows 11 .iso file and install it manually on your PC. You just need to ensure that your system houses a 64-bit 1GHz processor with two or more cores along with 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage.
However, it is worth noting that Microsoft has stated that devices that do not meet the minimum requirements, suffered from kernel mode crashes 52% more than supported devices. Additionally, the tech-giant also stated that systems that meet the minimum requirements had a 99.8% crash free experience.
