During the Corona period, when the crisis of employment arose in front of the small street vendors, the central government extended a helping hand. Such businessmen have got a lot of relief from the Pradhan Mantri Swa-Nidhi Yojana. Under this scheme, easy loans are being provided to the roadside street vendors to start their livelihood again.

In a report of PBNS, it is being claimed that this scheme is succeeding in its objective and small shopkeepers are getting a lot of benefits from it. Many small businessmen of Uttar Pradesh have got the benefit of this scheme, so that they can stand again.

small businessmen started employment
Rajesh Jaiswal of Barabanki district has also got the courage to stand again through this scheme. Rajesh Jaiswal says that the sudden corona crisis took away employment. Gradually, his remaining money also ran out. Now he did not have enough money to start his employment again.

When Rajesh, who was disappointed from all sides, came to know about the PM Swa-Nidhi scheme, he applied for a loan under this scheme. Rajesh got the support of PM Self-Nidhi Yojana during the Corona crisis and his employment resumed.

When the shop closed…
Rajesh says that before Corona, he used to run a paan shop, but as soon as Corona came, the shop stopped running. The economic situation had also deteriorated significantly. Meanwhile, a customer at the shop informed him about the self-funding scheme. After this, he filled the form in the bank and submitted it and got a loan of 10 thousand.

Now he is running his job afresh. Not only Rajesh but Ramdeep Singh says that one day information was received from the municipality about the self-funding scheme. He applied for 10 thousand loan and he got the loan immediately.

What are Project Officers called?
About this scheme, Barabanki Project Officer Saurabh Tripathi says that this is a very important scheme, which has small employment and needs small capital. Through this they get that capital. He told that by 2022, 5800 street vendors in Barabanki have to be provided help through the scheme. The capital of this loan reaches their account directly.

PM Self-funding launched in June, 2020
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had launched the PM Swa-Nidhi Yojana on June 1, 2020. The objective of the scheme is to provide loans up to Rs 10,000 without any guarantee (non-secured) for a period of one year to about 50 lakh street vendors across the country. Interest subvention @ 7 per cent per annum on regular repayment of loan and cashback of up to Rs 100 per month for carrying out prescribed digital transactions is given as incentive.

Also, paying the loan on time or earlier will make the seller eligible to get more loan for the next time. So far 23 lakh loans worth Rs 2,278.29 crore have been disbursed under this scheme.
