ITR Filing- The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) is all set to extend the deadline for filing Income Tax Return (ITR).

New Delhi. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) is all set to extend the key deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR). The last date for filing ITR for FY 2021 is 30 September. Earlier it was to be filed by 31 July 2021 but recently the deadline was extended to 30 September 2021. In fact, the new portal of the Income Tax Department is facing problems from the very beginning. Though Infosys has rectified the loopholes on the new ITR portal, there are still many taxpayers who are facing difficulties in filing ITR returns.

More than 4 lakh ITR returns filed Let us tell you that more than 4 lakh ITR returns are being filed for the last four days, while there was a total stagnation in filing for two days from August 21. In view of the situation, the Center will extend the deadline for major return-filing, giving enough time to the taxpayers.

According to the news of Business Standard, the government is preparing to extend the date for filing ITR returns. A government source has been quoted as saying that the delay due to technical glitches on the new portal is being factored in. The extension of dates will be notified in the coming days. This will give enough time to the taxpayers to comply.

Infosys prepared a new portal
Technology company Infosys prepared a new portal. The new ITR website was launched on 7 June. Earlier the website address was incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, which has now changed to incometax.gov.in. But from the very beginning, taxpayers were facing many difficulties on the new portal. For FY 2021(FY21) more than 8 million ITRs have been filed so far.

Many facilities are given on the new portal
Many new payment methods have been added to the Income Tax 2.0 portal. Taxpayers will be able to make payments on the website through Net Banking, UPEI, Credit Card, RTGS and NEFT, the money will be deducted directly from their account. Apart from this, the processing of income tax returns will be faster on the new site, so that taxpayers can get quick refund. However, it has had several technical issues since its launch.
