Income tax department released refund of Rs 1.26 lakh crore, find out whether you got it or not

The Income Tax Department has so far refunded a total of Rs.1.26 lakh crore to a total of 39.14 lakh taxpayers in the financial year 2020-21. Of the total tax refunds, personal income tax refund is Rs 34,532 crore and corporate tax (Corporate Tax) refund is Rs 92,376 crore.

new Delhi. The Income Tax Department has issued a tax refund of Rs 1.26 lakh crore to 39 lakh taxpayers so far in the financial year 2020-21. In a tweet made by the office of Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur, the total tax refund is Rs. 34,532 crore and Individual Tax (Corporate Tax) refund is Rs. 92,376 crore. The department has informed that tax refund of Rs. 1,26,909 crore has been given to 39.14 lakh taxpayers.

This figure of tax refund is till 27 October 2020

The Income Tax Department said that the figure for tax refunds issued so far in the current financial year is till October 27, 2020. The department had issued a tax refund of Rs 1.06 lakh crore to more than 30 lakh taxpayers between April 1 and September 15. Of this, individual income tax refund of Rs 31,741 crore was given to 29.17 lakh taxpayers and Rs 74,729 crore was refunded to 1.74 lakh taxpayers. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) had stated that it issued refunds of more than Rs 1,06,470 crore from April 1, 2020 to September 15, 2020 to over 30.92 lakh taxpayers.

The central government is insisting on providing tax related services to taxpayers without any hindrance and their pending refunds are being issued continuously. Income tax returns are issued for the same taxpayers who have filed ITR. The Income Tax Department checks your tax. After this a refund is issued to you.

>> You have to go to income tax e-filing website. Login your portal here. For this, you have to fill your PAN number, e-filing password and captcha.

>> After opening the portal profile, you have to click on ‘View returns / forms’.

>> In the next step, you will click on ‘Income Tax Returns’ and submit from the drop down menu. After clicking on the hyperlink acceptance number, a new screen will open.

>> On this screen, you will get information about the timeline of filing, processing tax return. It will contain information about the date of filing, date of return confirmation, date of completion of processing, date of issue of refund and payment refund.

>> If your tax refund fails, you will also be told the reason for this on this screen.
