Aadhar Card Update: Changes in the rules for making a child Aadhar card, know how to apply?

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the issuing body of Aadhaar, has changed the procedure for issuing Aadhaar cards for children.

Aadhar card is an important document for every citizen in India. Even for children below the age of five years, Aadhar card is made, which is called Bal Aadhar card. But the rules for applying for it are different. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the issuing body of Aadhaar, has changed the procedure for issuing Aadhaar cards for children. Now, parents can apply for the child’s Aadhar card (Bal Aadhar Card New Rule) by presenting the birth certificate or slip issued by the hospital where the child was born.




Bal Aadhaar is issued for children below 5 years of age, but under the new rule, children below the age of five years will not be required to provide fingerprints of the retina of the eyes and five fingers of the hand. UIDAI has removed the requirement of biometrics for children below 5 years of age. Notably, the biometric will be required now when the child turns five years old. After this, like the normal Aadhar card, there will be a child Aadhar card.

These things are required for

application, passport, PAN card, voter ID, driving license, NREGA job card, ration card are required to apply.

How to apply for Baal Aadhaar

  • Visit the official website of UIDAI
  • Select the option of Aadhar Card Registration and fill the required details of the child
  • Enter demographic details like residential address, locality, state etc and submit the application
  • Click on the Appointment option to schedule registration for Aadhar card
  • Select the nearest Enrollment Centre, schedule your appointment and get the Child Aadhar Card on the date issued by it.

Carry these things along: On the date of appointment, carry the required documents like Proof of Identity (POI), Proof of Address (POA), Proof of Relationship (POR) and Date of Birth (DOB) to the Enrollment Centre. An officer will check all your documents. Biometric data will be collected if your child is above five years of age. But for children below five years of age, biometric data is not needed, only demographic data and facial recognition will be required.




Once the process is completed, parents will receive an acknowledgment number to track the process of their application. They will also receive an SMS after 60 days of appointment and Bal Aadhar card will reach you within 90 days.
