83-year-old Saint Swami Shankar Das of Haridwar Rishikesh , all were taken aback when he donated one crore rupees for the Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya . He has been living in the cave for the last 60 years. Swami Shankar Das said that he has raised this amount from the grant of devotees found in the cave of Baba with his Guru Tat.

On Wednesday, employees of the Main Branch of the State Bank of India in Rishikesh were surprised when Shankar Das arrived with a check of one crore. When he checked his account, it was confirmed that his check was correct. After this, RSS officials were called so that the process could be completed.

Rashikesh RSS chief Sudama Singhal told our colleague Times of India, ‘We reached the bank immediately as soon as we got the information. Owners cannot donate money directly, so this check was given to us and we gave them the receipt. Now the bank manager will deposit the check in the trust account.
Swami Shankar Das said that he wanted to make secret donations but agreed to show the amount of donation thinking that it would inspire others to build the temple. Swami Shankar Das is locally called Fakkad Baba, due to his charity, his life goes on.
