New Delhi. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that the government is encouraging bamboo cultivation. This will help in increasing the income of farmers. The minister said this while addressing the national debate on opportunities and challenges related to bamboo in India in a virtual manner. An official statement said that the two-day program was organized by the National Bamboo Mission, NITI Aayog and Invest India.

Tomar said that the government is examining the investigation for the development of the bamboo sector. Bamboo cultivation can be an important crop to double the income of farmers. This will increase employment opportunities and will improve the livelihood of the people especially in the Northeast.

Modi government is running this scheme

Modi government is running many schemes for the development of the country’s farmers. The National Bamboo Mission is also one of those few schemes. Under the National Bamboo Mission, you can earn millions by cultivating bamboo. If you cultivate bamboo under the National Bamboo Mission, then you will be given 120 rupees per plant from the government. Let’s know how to start bamboo farming.




Explain that the Modi government has removed bamboo from the category of trees in the year 2018. Now you can easily cultivate bamboo without any hindrance. However, this has been done only for private land. Those who are bamboo on the forest land do not have this exemption. Forest law will apply there.

First decide what

How much government support will the farmer get?

In three years, the average cost will be Rs 240 per plant. Out of which government assistance will be Rs 120 per plant. In other areas except North East, 50 percent government and 50 percent farmers will be employed for its cultivation. The central share will be 60 per cent and 40 per cent state share in 50 per cent government share. Whereas in North East 60% government and 40% farmers will be planted. 90 per cent of the central government and 10 per cent of the state government’s share in 60 per cent government money. How much will you earn?

Depending on the need and species, you can plant 1500 to 2500 plants in a hectare. If you plant a plant at 3 x 2.5 meters, then about 1500 plants will be planted in one hectare. Together you can grow a second crop in the space between the two plants. After 4 years, you will start earning from 3 to 3.5 lakh rupees. No need to do a transplant every year. Because bamboo plantation lasts for about 40 years.

If you plant bamboo at 4 x 4 meters on the ridge of the field along with other crops, you will start earning about 30 thousand rupees in one hectare from the fourth year. Its cultivation reduces the risk factor of the farmer. Because the farmer can also do other farming among bamboo.

What can you make from bamboo?

Bamboo construction is in use. You can build a house with it. Flooring can do. Can make furniture. You can earn by making handicroft and jewelery. Bicycles are also being built from Babu. Officials of the Ministry of Agriculture claim that the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee has given its approval for the construction work. Now bamboo sheets are also being prepared instead of cement for putting sheds.
