However, it will be cheaper to travel domestically without a check-in bag. That is, if you want to travel by air cheaply, then you will have to leave the check-in baggage at home during the journey. Actually, passengers flying domestic air are now going to get a discount on fares. The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the regulatory body of civil aviation in the country, has issued a circular. In the circular, flight operators have been asked to give ticket discounts to those passengers who do not carry any baggage during flight or carry only baggage carried in the cabin. For this, passengers will have to give information about this while booking tickets.
Know what the DGCA said?
The notification issued by DGCA states that airlines can offer cheaper tickets to passengers who travel without luggage or only with cabin bags. According to the report, the DGCA has removed the ban imposed on airlines on check-in bags, which can make flight travel cheaper by up to Rs 200. As per the current rules, you are allowed to carry cabin baggage weighing 7 kg and check-in baggage of 15 kg in flight. At present, companies charge up to Rs 200 for a 15 kg check in bag. Now this ban has been removed due to which companies can now offer cheap domestic air tickets. However, this charge can only work if the flight reaches the pre-epidemic level.
In addition, the Aviation Regulatory body has allowed the separation of charges for other services such as preferred seats, food and drinks charges, airline lounges, sports equipment and musical instruments. However, for these rules, the airline has to decide how much discount it will give. On Thursday, DGCA chief Arun Kumar passed the order in which he said that the airlines companies should ensure that passengers traveling with check in bags at the Light Fair and Airport are charged appropriately.
