Recently, in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras had told about this new scheme being run for the people doing business of food and drink. For this scheme, the government has made a plan of helping 10 thousand crore rupees in 5 years.
35 thousand crores investment, employment to 9 lakh people
This scheme has been taken forward by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. Under this, small food processing industries can take advantage of 35 percent credit-linked capital subsidy for infrastructure development including processing facilities, laboratories, godowns, cold storage, packing and incubation centres. This scheme was started for the states and union territories so that small business people can adopt it and increase their work. The government is sure that through this scheme an investment of Rs 35,000 crore will be made in the economy and 9 lakh jobs will be created.
States will decide one district one product
According to the ministry, it will be the responsibility of the states to identify one food product for each district keeping in mind the availability of raw materials. The list of these products includes mango, potato, litchi, tomato, sago, tangerine, bhujia, petha, papad, pickle, millet based products, fisheries, poultry, meat as well as animal feed. Industries producing selected products on the basis of One Distinct One Product will be given assistance on priority basis. For example, in the district where there is bumper production of maize, units of products like Kurmure, Popcorn… can be set up.
Will get help up to Rs 10 lakh
According to the instructions of the ministry, a production unit will be given assistance up to a maximum of Rs 10 lakh. Along with this, assistance will also be given for marketing and branding if they want to develop brands for small industries and groups with 50 percent subsidy at the state or regional level. On the other hand, if you want to run a self-help group, then you can get 40 thousand rupees from the government.

10 thousand crore fund
According to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, under the PM-FME scheme, the government plans to spend 10 thousand crores in 5 years from 2020 to 2025. In this entire expenditure, 60 percent will be shared by the Center and 40 percent by the states. Union Territories will also share in the ratio of 60:40. On the other hand, in the North-East and adjoining states of the Himalayas, the central government will spend 90 percent and the state government will spend 10.
Employs 74 percent of the people
According to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, there are about 25 lakh companies related to food processing in the country and 74% people get employment from this sector. Of these, 66 per cent of the units are in rural areas and about 80 per cent of the units are run by households.
