Airtel and VI will increase the cost of phone calls, Airtel’s Rs 49 plan ends
In the coming days, customers will have to pay more money for making calls from mobile phones. Vodafone Idea and Airtel are planning to increase the tariff by up to 30%. In the first episode, Airtel has abolished the Rs 49 monthly plan for prepaid customers. However, in the new plan, customers will also get more minutes.
Airtel said that the current rates of entry level are over
Airtel on Wednesday said that it is doing away with this entry-level tariff. Now the new tariff will be Rs 79. That is, this rate of entry level has been increased by 60%. It is reported that both the telecom companies can increase their rates in the next 6 months. This will have a direct impact on crores of people of the country, who will have to pay more money every month for calls.
Plan to increase earnings from each customer
Both the telcos are increasing the rates so that their earning from each subscriber increases. Airtel earns Rs 139 per customer while Vodafone Idea earns Rs 115. Vodafone Idea has also increased the prices in some circles in a similar manner. In a few days, the company will implement it across the country. However, all these prices will basically increase in the plan of prepaid customers.
There are 129 crore mobile subscribers
There are total 129 crore mobile phone subscribers in the country. Out of this, more than 90% customers use prepaid SIM. In fact, only last week, Airtel made changes in the plans of its postpaid customers. This was applicable to both retail and enterprise customers. Vodafone Idea recently reduced the data under the Business Plus plan. This plan was for enterprise customers.
Companies going through financial crisis
Both Airtel and Vodafone Idea are going through financial crunch at the moment. However, the condition of Vodafone Idea is very bad. Airtel has replaced the Rs 749 family postpaid plan with Rs 999. Business Plus postpaid plans for Vodafone Idea’s corporate users start from Rs 299 per month to Rs 499 per month.
22 thousand crores have to be paid
Vodafone has to pay a total of 22 thousand crores by April next year. This money is to be given for Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR), spectrum and loans. The company has been planning to raise 20 thousand crores for a long time, but it has not been successful so far. Jio is currently ahead in terms of earnings among the three major telecom companies. However, his earning from each customer has been Rs 138.40.
