Sonitpur in Assam trembled due to earthquake, trembling earth continuously for 6 consecutive nights

In Sonitpur, Assam, several tremors of earthquake were felt continuously one after the other late in the night. According to the report, between 12:00 pm and 2:38 pm, earthquake shook Assam’s land six times. On the Richter scale, the intensity of these tremors was quite low. There is no news of any loss of life or property.
Even before 12 o’clock in the night, in Assam and some other states of the Northeast, earthquake tremors were felt one after another, which caused great damage to buildings and people came out of their homes in panic. Assam State Disaster Management Authority said that no one died due to the direct earthquake but one person died due to fear and heart attack in the Kamrup Metropoline and Nagaon districts during the earthquake.

According to preliminary report, 10 people were injured in four districts. According to the authority, the first earthquake of 6.4 magnitude occurred in Tezpur, the headquarters of Assam’s Sonitpur district, at 7.51 am. Earthquake tremors were also felt throughout the Northeast region and parts of West Bengal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) Deputy Director Sanjay O’Neil Shaw said that there were earthquakes of magnitude 4.7, 4 and 3.6 at 8.44 in the morning, eight o’clock at 13:25, at 8.44 in the morning. The tremors were felt. He said that a tremor of 3.2 magnitude quake was felt in Nagaon district of the state at 10.5 am and another tremor of 3.4 magnitude quake was felt in Tezpur shortly after 10.39 am.
